Requirements

There are four approved admission groups for training at ZOE SCHOOL:

Our four admission groups

Admission group A

You have a tertiary A/B vocational qualification in a relevant field. After successfully completing each module examination, you will receive the respective module certificate. After the training you will receive the training certificate. All module certificates and proof of 2 years of 50% professional experience before, during or after the training will allow you to take the Higher Federal Diploma examination.

Admission group B

You have an upper secondary level qualification, an EFZ, a non-relevant tertiary A/B qualification, 12 years of schooling or a Matura. You complete the equivalence examination (via OdA ARTECURA by the end of the 3rd semester). After successfully completing each module examination, you will receive the relevant module certificate. All module certificates and proof of 2 years of 50% professional experience before, during or after the course allow you to take the Federal Higher Professional Examination.

Admission group C

You are enrolled at another school recognized by OdA ARTECURA and complete modules 1, 2 and/or 7 with us, including the module examination. If you are training in Dance Movmenet Therapy at another institute recognised by the OdA ARTECURA, you can also complete Module 3 with us. You will receive the corresponding module certificate from us. If you want to become a dance therapist in addition to your training, you can also complete modules 3, 4, 5 and 6 with us. You will receive the corresponding module certificates and the final certificate from us.

Admission group D

You want to do a topic-specific further training course with us. We recognize your original profession and practice in the tertiary sector for admission. You will receive a corresponding certificate from us.

The following requirements must also be met:

– Completion of the admission requirements / preliminary occupational clarifications: The preliminary professional clarifications according to OdA ARTECURA will be completed before the start of the course.

– Dance knowledge and skills: we expect dance knowledge (amateur courses) of at least 3 years

– Own therapy

– Passed entrance examination

– Knowledge of English and German

Important: If you are a psychologist, psychotherapist, physiotherapist, doctor, nurse educator, we can credit you with the course content that you have already acquired in your original professional training.

What you might want to know (FAQ)

What does relevant (enschlägig) mean?

«Relevant» means «belonging to a specific field or subject». For this purpose, OdA ARTECURA defines all professions in medicine, therapy, art and education.

What does the admission dossier contain?

Your electronic application dossier must be received by us 10 days before the entrance examination and consists of:

  1. Curriculum vitae/resume with name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, nationality, date of birth and portrait picture.
  2. Letter of motivation: Statement of intent as to why, in the context of original profession and personal background, training as a dance therapist is being sought.
  3. The anticipated financial plan.
  4. The completed application form (as download below).
  5. The completed Evidence of Admission form.

What is the content of the entrance examination?

The entrance examination consists of 2 parts:

  1. The online questionnaires must be completed and uploaded by 6 days before the practical entrance exam day.
  2. On the day of the practical entrance exam, we will introduce you to the main dance therapy method that will be used in our course. We want to know how you grasp movement tasks and how you translate them into movement. We also want to know how you creatively design movement and how you experience movement. This day is not about «good» or «bad», «right» or «wrong», but we are interested in your individual vitality and in your joy of movement.

What does the admission procedure cost?

  • Entrance examination: CHF 300.-, which must be transferred with the receipt of the registration form.

What is the equivalence test?

The equivalency examination brings you to the level Tertiary B relevant if you only fulfill the level Secondary II at the time of admission to ZOE SCHOOL Basel.

The procedure required for this: See fill out the form “Formular_Nachweise_ Aufnahme” (see admission procedure) ZOE SCHOOL will then inform you whether you also need to have your previous education checked by OdA ARTECURA.

What does recognition of foreign learning achivements mean?

If you have already completed some or several learning contents for your previous occupation, these can be recognized by us if necessary. The prerequisite for this is that these learning contents as well as the learning times are identical to the learning contents and times specified by OdA ARTECURA. You will receive a reduction of up to 40% for your attendance at contact classes and you will then be responsible for your own learning time. You must pass all exams. What does a federal higher professional examination mean?

Federal Higher federal Diploma  e.g. Arts Therapy Movement and Dance Therapy (HFP)

Federal higher professional examinations are aimed at professionals who wish to deepen or broaden the competencies they have acquired in their already acquired profession.

What does upper secondary level mean?

After compulsory schooling, students transfer to the upper secondary level. These are the following educational programs that lead to …

  • vocational apprenticeship with federal certificate of proficiency
  • secondary school certificate
  • matura certificate

What does tertiary A/B mean?

  • Tertiary A: Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs, doctorates at universities of applied sciences and universities
  • Tertiary B: Higher technical colleges, higher technical examinations and professional examinations
